The Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas will have three holiday shows.

“Christmas in Killarney” will be Tuesday, Dec. 12. Set in Killarney, Ireland in the late 1920s, “Christmas in Killarney” shows what it means to celebrate Christmas the Irish way, where many Christmas traditions originated. Created by the 2009 World Champion of Irish Dance Scott Doherty and worldwide touring Irish musician Chris Smith, “Christmas in Killarney” combines Irish dance with the harmonies of traditional Christmas classics. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., and tickets start at $35.

Grammy Award-winning country group Diamond Rio will perform its Holiday & Hits tour for New Philadelphia on Sunday, Dec. 17. The band is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, won six Vocal Group of the Year awards (four CMA and two ACM), received 14 Grammy nominations and won a Grammy Award for its album, “The Reason.” The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., and tickets start at $53.

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, “Away in the Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas” will come to the PAC. This musical comedy goes back to 1959 and the day of the Sunday school Christmas program. In the midst of holiday preparations and sprinklings of love in the air, the ladies are creating their own memories from Christmases past and present. Known for their hilarious antics and subtle charm, they are once again called upon to step in and save the day. The Church Ladies will perform two shows at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25.

Tickets for all three shows are on sale at the Performing Arts Center box office, by calling 330-308-6400 or by visiting www.kent.edu/tuscpac. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Performing Arts Center’s 2023-24 season is sponsored by the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation.
