Berner Trucking employees and owner/operators were honored at their annual Appreciation Banquet on Jan. 11 at the Elks Banquet Hall in New Philadelphia.

Twenty-two employees and owner/operators were presented with Longevity Awards with milestones of one to 35 years.

Driver Safety Awards also were presented to over 20 employees and owner/operators with benchmarks of one to seven years.

In addition to those awards, three employees received the annual Employee Awards of Distinction. Recipients of the 2019 program were William Heppe, Jr., Driver of the Year; Otto Polilli III, Mr. Goodwrench; and Robert Jackson, Good Samaritan.

Two retirees also were recognized for their years of service. Kay Garner, an administrative assistant specializing in payroll and load-processing, was honored for her 30 years of service. Vernon Hochstetler started his career with Berner Trucking as a driver before transitioning to sales director with over 45 years of service.

Since 1946 Berner Trucking’s mission is to be a quality leader in transportation by providing excellent customer service in the safest and most efficient manner and to provide a superior place of employment by providing a safe work environment with competitive wages.

Today Berner Trucking has over 100 active power units and additional owner/operators serving their customers. The company is located in Dover.
