Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative employee Josh Johnson has graduated from a state-wide program aiming to hone the skills of the next generation of electric cooperative leaders.

The one-year Cooperative Leadership Edge program was hosted by HWEC’s trade association, Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives, and required six courses, two assessments and a capstone project. Coursework focused on coaching employees, managing conflict, adapting communication approaches, carrying out difficult conversations and delivering results.

Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative invests in training and development with the goal of serving consumer-members with top talent and skills, said Glenn Miller, president/CEO.

“We’re not just an electricity provider. We’re here to make this area an even better place to live, work and serve,” he said. “That means investing in our employees and making sure we’re providing the best possible community services. We’re really proud of Josh's accomplishment, and we’re pleased to have him on our staff.”

A Rittman High School graduate, Johnson started his career at the cooperative in 2005 and lives with his wife and two kids in Wooster. He started as an apprentice and now is Class A lineman for the cooperative.

Holmes-Wayne Electric Cooperative Inc. is a member-owned, nonprofit electric cooperative serving approximately 18,000 accounts and 2,300 miles of line in Holmes, Wayne, Ashland, Stark, Tuscarawas, Knox, Medina and Coshocton counties. Headquarters are in Millersburg, with a district office in West Salem.
