The Church of the Holy Trinity is preparing for its annual six-week run of Lenten Fish Fry events, which will begin on the first Friday after Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, Feb. 28, and continue each Friday on March 6, 13, 20 and 27 and April 3 from 4-7 p.m.

Attendees can dine in or get carryout dinners at the drive-up parking near the door.

Fried or baked fish is offered along with a macaroni and cheese option.

Dinners include a two-piece fried fish dinner or one-piece baked for $7 and a four-piece fried fish dinner or a two-piece baked for $9.

All-you-can-eat dinners are available with fried fish only for $12, and a one-piece fried fish dinner or a plate of macaroni and cheese for children under 12 is $4.

Dinners all include hush puppies; choice of french fries, rice or macaroni and cheese; cole slaw or applesauce; a roll and butter; and a fruit drink, coffee, tea or water. Canned soft drinks and bottled water are $1 extra.

Holy Trinity’s fish fry events have been a church tradition for 15 years and have been coordinated through the efforts of Holy Trinity Council Knights of Columbus #13081.

Typically the church serves 500-600 dinners per night.

With the proceeds the local Knights of Columbus provides funds for numerous charitable services including monthly meals at the local Salvation Army, WAGS 4 Warriors guide dogs, Vacation Bible School, community Thanksgiving meals, diocese veterans programs and veterans hospital Christmas gifts, Tuscarawas Central Catholic Schools, Loving Hearts/Backpack for Kids, St. Vincent DePaul Society, a youth group digital instruction projector, an eye-screening unit with Bolivar Lions for Tusky Valley Schools, sponsorship of seminarian tuition in Tanzania, American Legion golf sponsor, mental and physical handicap organizations, Boy Scout Troop 95, Holy Trinity Church maintenance, and casino night projects.
