The many things we discover inside

Taller Half and I have been self-isolating at home for the past week, just like most everybody else.

Our house is enjoying all the attention she is getting, especially the cleaning. It is amazing just how much dust and dirt can accumulate in little corners and crevices inside a house. We actually moved our couch, which is heavy as lead, and discovered an interesting cache of dog toys, a little money, candy wrappers, crumbs, lists, a cap, a sock and more. We had no idea!

Our dogs were thrilled with our discoveries and made off with as much junk as they could grab. Needless to say, our plan then became to check under every piece of furniture. We did find an old dog collar under one chair that wasn’t ours. Our dogs must be entertaining company when we aren’t around.

These discoveries had us worried that our house was hiding other “stuff” in places she kept hidden. Of course the dogs hid all their rescued junk under the guest room bed. We hauled it all out and put it very neatly in a basket behind a chair. So far they have accepted their new storage arrangement.

It turns out our kitchen cabinets had been collecting “stuff” since the day we moved in. My Taller Half found a pair of pliers hiding behind a seldom-used pot, along with some hot sauce that had disappeared months ago. I found a spatula at the rear of a drawer. Several measuring cups appeared in another cabinet. A stash of dog treats was found lurking at the rear of our coat closet.

Needless to say, we have been very busy cleaning and reorganizing our abode. It turns out having to stay at home for days at a time has been surprisingly interesting.

Of course our house is getting tired of all this activity and would appreciate some alone time. She needs some peace and quiet to find different hiding spaces.
