Avoid big collisions by staying in own lane

Avoid big collisions by staying in own lane

“I just stay in my own lane and not worry about what anyone else is doing.” — Roddy Ricch.

Most of us will probably drive somewhere today; it’s just a matter of probability. The one thing we must do if we want to get to our destination safely is drive in our lane.

If we wander into the other lane, we risk getting into a collision with another car, and it would be our fault for straying into the path of oncoming traffic. I’ve had to pull to the side of the road myself for that very reason.

The police pull people over for going left of center even when nothing is coming. I imagine the reason for that is because they want us not to be careless for the next time something might be coming.

Life is no different in some respects. Each one of us was made for something that only we can do, and no one can actually do it 100% the same way. Yes, there might be things that overlap, but no one can duplicate everything just right. Some stuff takes a lot of time and care to do the right way; other people might rush and not do as good a job. People often underestimate the love and care part of the work process. Sometimes, it’s obvious when some time and thought has been put into something.

The temptation of many people is to be involved with too much at one time instead of doing what will give their life more meaning and value. We are much too busy chasing the wind; it looks better to be busy than to be productive. If people see us being busy, they might think we are important. Is that what we want, just to look important instead of making our life count for something? If we are spread too thin all of the time, we will never know what we can be.

We must ask ourselves: What things give us purpose in our life? What gives us wind beneath our wings? What puts fire into our soul? The answer will give us the lane we should be in. We can help other people be blessed, and we want to be blessed too. Find your lane, and you will be blessed.

Don’t look around and keep wondering if this or that are the things you can do. Instead, go on the inside and look at what it is God has put inside of you. I wanted to be a pastor because I wanted to help people. However, God put writing on my heart and in my soul as a way to help people. I even thought maybe God wanted me to write like a pastor, and I did that for a while, but I needed to write to inspire people. My writing might not be hardcore Christian, but the undertones of my writing are Christian based.

I think just being still before the Lord is a lost art. Our world doesn’t make time for us to be still and just wait, but it is something we must do if we want to be useful. If we spend more time with God just thinking and praying, we will get a better idea how to be in our lane and become more effective in life. The question, “what is your lane,” is something only God can answer. No one else can answer the question for you. Get alone to pray and dream, and at some point you will get the answers.
