As a writer one of the hardest parts of my job is to think of new topics to write about week after week. It can be one of the most difficult things to do.
People often ask me where I get my ideas. The truth is I don’t really know, sometimes. Of course, I give all the glory to God, and he is the reason I am successful because he gives me inspiration from his word. Other times I get ideas from books, billboards, newspapers, television shows or movies, but today was kind of a new one for me.
Stacey and I were walking through Walmart today when a T-shirt stole my attention. The shirt was gray with a picture of Santa Clause on it and had the words “I still believe” on it.
Christmas is a magical time of year. It’s a time when families get together and eat until they are stuffed, and I know that I for one eat beyond even that. It’s a time to see little children open their gifts and the magic of just being together, living, loving and laughing together.
I know some families who never want to be together, and I find that to be one of the saddest things I can imagine. The family is one of the cornerstones of our society, and once the family is broken, everything else goes with it. To see families at war with each other, that just breaks my heart. I was listening to the radio, and one of the personalities said for a long time one side of his family didn’t talk to the other side. He asked why, and nobody knew.
Christmas is about sharing the love of Jesus with the world. Don’t you think it is about time to be like Jesus and forgive?
We sure want to keep believing in the good of people. Sure, people will let us down, and we can’t trust everyone. However, if we live our life with the attitude we can’t trust anybody, we will lose. If everyone is out to get us, then we should never leave our house again. There are some people that when a person does one little thing they don’t like, they cut the person out of their life. We need to learn to overlook little offenses. I think most people are good and just want to live their life without drama. More people than we think are willing to lend a hand if they are able.
Believe in miracles. I know people who don’t believe in miracles, and they are the emptiest people I have ever met. I decided a long time ago I would rather believe in the Lord than have my life be meaningless. I could tell you things that happened in my life that there is no earthly explanation for.
Christmas reminds us there is love and hope in the world. All the giving and outpouring of support just makes me believe in people and miracles. How about you?
