The Southeast Local Libraries and Killbuck Savings Bank sponsored an author visit for all second-graders in the district on April 17 and 18.

Children’s author Lindsay Bonilla came to visit Apple Creek Library, Prairie Township (Holmesville) Library and Fredericksburg Community Library, where she shared her life as an author of books for children, followed by an interactive reading of “Polar Bear Island,” the story of Parker, the grumpy polar bear mayor of Polar Bear Island who finds comfort in predictability and must come to terms with the arrival of Kirby, a cheerful and eager penguin who brings new ideas and friends. Each student received a signed copy of “Polar Bear Island” to take home.

Bonilla returned to the Fredericksburg Community Library on Friday, April 19, presenting her program to homeschool families. The Southeast Local Libraries are all independent, volunteer staffed, community-funded libraries in Apple Creek, Fredericksburg and Holmesville.
