BCC students qualify for March state BPA competition

These students at the Buckeye Business Academy at East Holmes campus qualified for the Business Professionals of America state conference on March 12 in Columbus after qualifying at the Region 8 competition in January.

                        

Members of Buckeye Career Center’s Business Professionals of America chapter have qualified for the state BPA conference. The Region 8 regional competition was held at Kent State Tuscarawas on Jan. 10 with numerous local students advancing to the state level. Many of these students qualified in more than one category, but BPA rules allow them to compete in only one category at the state level. The state competition will be held March 12 in Columbus.

The students are instructed by Bill Alexander, computer technology/network systems; Heather Coletti, business and marketing; Nancy Alam, Garaway accounting; and Amy Stauffer-McNutt, Buckeye Business Academy at East Holmes.

The BCC main campus business and marketing students include Ben Williamson of Tusky Valley in digital media production, firth place, and Trista Recchiuti of Garaway in personal finance management, second place.

The BCC main campus computer technology/network systems students include Michael Koerber of New Philadelphia, Aaron Miller of New Philadelphia and Nathan Correll of Claymont, network design team, first place; Taylor Day of Indian Valley in computer networking, first place; Matthew Rogers of Claymont in computer networking, second place; Marcus Lyons of Newcomerstown in PC servicing and troubleshooting, first place; Tyler Kuhns of Hiland in PC servicing and troubleshooting, second place; Daniel Burkholder of Carrollton in computer security, first place; Koa Thornton of Indian Valley in computer security, second place; Ian Pompey of Dover in systems administration using Cisco, first place; Braiden Guy of Newcomerstown in systems administration using Cisco, second place; and David Johnson of Indian Valley in Linux, first place.

BCC accounting class at Garaway High School includes Heinrich Asbury in fundamental accounting, first place; Victoria Miller in fundamental accounting, second place; Bobby Palmer in payroll accounting, first place; Eric Gordon in payroll accounting, second place; Cassy Donaldson in banking and finance, second place; Meghan Petitte in banking and finance, third place; and Brendan Chapman in personal financial management, first place.
