East Holmes BOE approves contracts
The East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, May 16 at the Central Office.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Recognized the following WKLM Student of the Week recipients: Paisley Hershberger, April 14-18; Rogan Miller, April 21-25; Dreyden Morris, April 28 through May 2; and Addison Stam, May 5-9.
—Accepted the following donations: after-prom donations and $125 from Killbuck Savings Bank to be used in Rachel Snyder’s resource room in honor of KSB’s 125th anniversary.
—Approved a three-year contract with Akron Children’s Hospital for school nurse services, effective Aug. 1 through July 31, 2028.
—Approved inter-district open enrollment for two students at Hiland for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year.
—Approved the Hiland seniors for graduation on May 18.
—Accepted the following resignations: LaVonna Gress, seventh grade English/language arts at Hiland, retiring at the end of the 2024-25 contractual year; Rachel VanDonge, fourth grade through sixth grade at Winesburg Elementary, resigning at the end of the 2024-25 contractual year; Melody Lyons, ASL monitor/aide at Hiland, resigning effective May 30; and Bonnie Hershberger, cook at Berlin, resigning effective May 1.
—Approved all substitute personnel hired by East Holmes Local Schools and the Tri-County Educational Service Center for the 2024-25 school year.
—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2025-26 school year to the following certified personnel, pending completion of all requirements: Kade Coblentz, science and social studies for fourth grade through sixth grade at Winesburg, and Aidan JoDon, English/language arts for seventh grade at Hiland.
—Approved the following placement on the certified salary schedule, effective at the beginning of the 2025-26 contractual school year: Elisabeth Weber to Master’s and Lindsey Crilley to Master’s.
—Approved the following administrative three-year limited contract renewals: James Luneborg, Tyler Renner, Casey Travis and Jon Wilson.
—Approved the following certified one-year limited contract renewals: Therese Burnham, Logan Camp, Roche Harmon, Felicia Lorson, Logan Mullet, Kyle Pettit, Jessica Reese, Amber Rowe, Staci Seibert, Emily Tetzloff, Krista Troyer and Carla Veil.
—Approved the following certified two-year limited contract renewals: Amber Bane, Blaine Hoxworth, Zachary Rearick, Kayla Schlabach, Sarah Sommers, Genesis Swartzentruber, Jennifer Weber and Carrie Wigton.
—Approved the following certified three-year limited contract renewals: Alexandria Albertson, Jared Coblentz, Lindsey Crilley, Callie Gerber, Mary (Macy) Lautenschleger, Zachery Raber, Amy Schlabach, Elizabeth Sommers, Anna Tschiegg, Megan Weaver and Joanna Yoder.
—Approved the following certified continuing contract renewals: Reis Bonifant, Sara Hales, Sara Hochstetler, Rachel Snyder and Elisabeth Weber.
—Approved the following classified two-year limited contract renewals: Valerie Amstutz, Bruce Baltzly, Heather Blosser, Dawn Chamberlin, Dean Cropp, Tiffany Gintz, Wes Kandel, Larry Leckrone, Doris Miller, Emily Miller, Mary Plant, John Mark Russell, Rebekah Smith, Alicia Ward, Cheryl Whitman, Isabella Wilbur, Cutia Yoder and Monica S. Yoder.
—Approved a one-year limited contract for the 2025-26 school year to the following classified personnel, pending completion of all requirements: Kevin Duff, assistant mechanic; Crystal Rhodes, cook at Walnut Creek; and Kim Miller, cook at Berlin.
—Approved the transfer of Mary Plant, aide at Mt. Hope, to kitchen manager at Walnut Creek, effective for the 2025-26 contractual school year.
—Approved contracts for 10 summer instruction teachers, pending student enrollment numbers. They are to be paid $30 per hour. Summer instruction is being held at Berlin Elementary in June and will entail 10 days at four hours per day.
—Approved the following extended service contracts for the 2025-26 school year: Mark Hamsher, dean of students (25 days); Clara Hershberger, food service manager (20); Jennifer Hershberger, parent coordinator (up to five); Sarah Sommers, vocal music director (10); and Zachary Rearick, instrumental music (10).
—Approved stipends for the teachers who completed Ohio’s Science of Reading required professional development. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has committed to reimbursing the stipend amounts for each teacher.
—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2025-26 school year: Sarah Sommers, high school musical director; Erin Bille, Washington, D.C. trip coordinator; and Brent Schoneger, assistant vocal music instructor.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 20 at the Central Office.
