The Bipartisan Policy Center announced the addition of 10 new members to its Task Force on Elections — among them is Julie Leathers Stahl, director for the Wayne County Board of Elections. Stahl brings more than 32 years of experience to the task force through service as a poll worker, clerk of Orrville City Council, Orrville City Council ward representative, deputy director and now director at the Wayne County Board of Elections.

The task force, comprised of politically and geographically diverse state and local election officials, develops policy solutions to address challenges across election administration. The current Task Force on Elections is comprised of 36 members from 25 states and Washington, D.C.

“Ahead of a high-turnout election cycle, these state and local experts bring invaluable perspectives to our efforts to strengthen elections,” said Matthew Weil, executive director of BPC’s Democracy Program. “As challenges to election administration continue to evolve, their on-the-ground knowledge is more important than ever for crafting actionable policies to support secure, accessible and trustworthy elections across the country.”

The task force was convened by BPC based on the idea that the voice of election administrators is too often overlooked when state and federal legislatures consider election reform. This group seeks to build policies that would benefit voters in every state.
