The Dover Public Library has announced its annual list of the top circulating book titles of 2024:
—Fiction: “The Women” by Kristin Hannah.
—Nonfiction: “The Amish Wife: Unraveling the Lies, Secrets and Conspiracy That Let a Killer Go Free” by Gregg Olsen.
—DVD: “The Beekeeper.”
—Teen fiction: “Heartstopper #5” by Alice Oseman.
—Children’s chapter book: “Things Seen From Above” by Shelley Pearsall.
—Children’s picture book: “Llama Llama and the Bully Goat” by Anna Dewdney.
—Video game: “Mario vs. Donkey Kong” (Nintendo Switch).
“It is always fun to see which titles resonate with the community in any given year,” said Jim Gill, library director. “Fiction titles usually are the most popular in public libraries. In 2024 our top children’s title was Shelley Pearsall’s “Things Seen From Above,” which was the 2024 county-wide title for One Book, One Community, which is organized annually by the Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition.”
Overall, the circulation at the Dover Public Library was 299,354, which includes all formats of circulating materials such as books, DVDs, eBooks, audiobooks and magazines.
Gill also invites the public to participate in the library’s 100 Book Club, which challenges people to read and record 100 books over the course of 2025.
“This is a fun and very challenging annual tradition at our library,” Gill said. “We provide the reading log, which helps participants track the books they have read. At the conclusion of the year, a special reception is held at the library to honor those who accomplished the feat.”
