Kent State Tuscarawas increased digital and entrepreneurial literacy in Tuscarawas and surrounding counties by providing a Makerspace, where state-of-the-art equipment and support services meet. Makerspace is used to develop ideas and entrepreneurial skills with professional business support.

“Our campus is in a unique position to offer students and the community support for the innovative ideas created in the Makerspace,” said Cherie Bronkar, Kent State Tuscarawas library director. “Our programs provide education, while the Makerspace provides inspiration and the means to test and apply education in ways that create new business ventures and marketable products.”

Along with offering various workshops, Makerspace offers support to develop small business ideas. Support extends to services offered through Blackstone Launchpad, the Office of Business and Community Support and the Ohio Small Business Development Center.

Use of Makerspace equipment is free to residents of Tuscarawas County. Materials can be provided at a cost through the Academic Learning Commons or materials may be brought in.
