Jennifer Ison, associate professor of biology at The College of Wooster, will speak about Ohio bumblebees in a free lecture at the annual Friends of the Library fall meeting on Oct. 12, to be held in Bruch Hall at First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Ave., Wooster.

                        

Jennifer Ison, associate professor of biology at The College of Wooster, will speak about Ohio bumblebees at the annual Friends of the Library fall meeting on Oct. 12.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. in Bruch Hall at First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Ave., Wooster. It is free and open to the public.

Bee-ing the Solution: How To Protect Native Bees and Why You Should is the title of Ison’s presentation. She said there are over 400 species of native bees in Ohio, and they are critical to the health of natural areas and gardens. Many of these bee species are declining, and some are no longer found in Ohio.
