Registration for the 13th annual Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Run for Home on April 4 and 5 is now open.

The 2020 Run for Home will be held on the streets of Dover and New Philadelphia and will feature a new race schedule. The Run for Home is two days of running and walking events designed to promote community fitness and generate funds for Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio.

Activities on April 4 include a health and fitness expo, 10k and 5k races, and a free kids’ run.

Activities on April 5 include the half-marathon, three-person team relay and 1-mile fun run.

Activities are headquartered at Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia.

“We changed up the schedule for the coming year, adding a 5k race and moving the half-marathon and team relay to an earlier start time,” race director Matt Ritzert said. “Race participants have been asking for the earlier start time, and we wanted to add the 5k to offer as many options as possible. Runners and walkers have the option of everything from 13.1 miles to 1 mile."

Participants who complete the 10k race on Saturday and the half-marathon on Sunday are automatically entered in to the Run for Home Challenge. Anyone who completes both races will earn a special long-sleeve shirt, and awards will be presented to the men and women with the top-three combined times.

“We want to encourage people to sign up early to take advantage of the best pricing. We are also offering discounts to student and school groups who want to sign up. And we have family registration discounts for the 1-mile fun run,” Ritzert said.

Registration information is available online at www.runforhome.org and the Run for Home Facebook page. School groups that want to participate should email Ritzert at racedirector@runforhome.org.

All proceeds from the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Run for Home benefit Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio. The Run for Home has raised $211,000 for Habitat for Humanity.

“All race proceeds stay in Tuscarawas County to help Habitat provide affordable housing for local residents,” Ritzert said. “We have a great partnership with Habitat. Habitat supports the Run for Home with great volunteer support and does great work in our community.”
