A highlight of the annual Longenecker Fellowship Auction and Harvest Festival is the barbecue rib cook-off by backyard grillers, where visitors can enjoy the food and vote for their favorite. This year’s event is Sept. 25.

                        

Longenecker Fellowship, 2200 Township Road 606, near Winesburg, will host its annual Auction and Harvest Festival on Saturday, Sept. 25, starting at 7 a.m. with breakfast.

Back for another year is the barbecue rib cook-off by backyard grillers. Vote for your favorite. The day also will include an auction with a variety of auction items and a raffle with prizes. Tickets are one for $10 or six for $50. The day also will feature a bake sale, car show, homemade apple dumplings and homemade ice cream. All food items are by donation.

The events scheduled include the following:

—Breakfast of all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage, sausage gravy with biscuits, and corn mush from 7-11 a.m.

—A bake sale from 7 a.m. until sold out.

—A car show with prizes awarded in various categories and Best of Show from 8 a.m. to noon.

—The children’s auction with items for children and bidding by children with a parent at 10:30 a.m.

—The rib cook-off and lunch stand featuring barbecue ribs by local grill masters with baked beans, noodles, apple sauce or coleslaw from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There also will be a stand with hot dogs, and back again will be homemade ice cream and apple dumplings.

—The main auction (watch for updates of auction items on the church’s Facebook page, Longenecker Evangelical Anabaptist Fellowship) at 11:15 a.m.

After the main auction, the raffle drawing will include the following: an outdoor sections seating set, first place; TenPoint Viper S400 Crossbow, second place; Green Mountain Grill PEAK smoker/grill, third place; and Firetable with granite surround, fourth place.

There also will be themed baskets with raffle tickets at $1 or six tickets for $5.

All proceeds from this festival benefit the LEAF and a local family in need.
