Nate Kelly, executive chef and co-owner of 63 Corks, will be the guest speaker at the Dover Library Lunch and Learn at the Senior Center in Dover. His Supporting Local program will be held Thursday, May 15 at 12:15 p.m.

Kelly will talk about his journey as a chef and his desire to own and operate a restaurant where he could create seasonal menus using local ingredients.

During his presentation Kelly will touch on the importance of supporting local farmers. He will highlight the abundance of fresh, seasonal foods from Ohio and how he uses them year round in his restaurant.

“Just because the winter takes hold of us,” Kelly said, “that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy great foods.”

Hailing from a small coastal town in North Carolina, Kelly attended culinary school in Charleston, South Carolina and spent time in Homer, Alaska. Prior to opening 63 Corks in Strasburg, he worked at establishments across the Southeastern United States such as Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra, Florida and the Bald Head Island Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.

“We aim to bring a contemporary Southern Appalachian culinary experience to Strasburg, honoring the region’s heritage,” Kelly said. “Our goal is to provide exceptional Southern hospitality while showcasing the region’s unique flavors and reflections.”

The menu features an array of Appalachian-inspired seasonal dishes including starters like crisp brussels sprouts and homemade cornbread and main dishes such as glazed duck, rainbow trout and dry-aged steaks. As a father of five, husband and restaurant entrepreneur, Kelly is dedicated to bringing people together through his passion for cuisine.

The program is part of the Lunch and Learn series sponsored by the Dover Public Library on the third Thursday of every month. All programs in the series are held at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, 425 Prospect St., Dover.

Contact Library Linda at the senior center or call the library at 330-343-6123.
