The arrival of spring means the arrival of one of the most important activities for the Clark Community Center board and all who enjoy gathering together in Clark.

The CCC will host its annual Banquet Dinner & Benefit Auction Saturday, April 26, with the doors opening at 5 p.m. and the auction beginning at 6 p.m.

The evening will include a dinner catered by Real McCoy BBQ, a live auction, a silent auction, raffles and a gun raffle. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased by contacting any CCC board member.

The Real McCoy BBQ menu will include brisket and/or smoked lemon pepper chicken, green beans, cheesy taters and mama’s noodles.

While the CCC hosts many activities throughout the year, this one is the big one because it serves as the largest fundraiser for a center that continues to grow in popularity when it comes to hosting family gatherings, reunions, birthday parties and much more.

According to Taylor Faunce, CCC board president, the auction will feature plenty of items that continue to come in daily. He said anyone interested in finding out more about what will be available should continue to monitor the CCC Facebook home page, where they will continually update featured items.

“For the most part, we never know everything that will be at the auction until it’s game time,” Faunce said. “That’s usually how it goes with people donating to the cause. Our community has been excellent when it comes to showing its support through donations, and I’m sure we will have a great lineup of auction items.”

The role the CCC plays in helping people host all types of events continues to blossom.

Faunce said the center continues to be filled with weekend activities, in particular, with a nearly fully booked weekend slate of events already in place for the following months.

While there are still a few Saturday and Sunday events left, Faunce said they are trying to encourage folks to book the center for more Friday evening activities as a way of entertaining more fun and fellowship at the center.

“Our rentals have been going incredibly well,” Faunce said. “As a board, we all believe that the biggest thing we’ve experienced in our success has been the way the community has gotten behind us from the very beginning, and not just the local Clark community but even beyond.

“I just think it shows what you can accomplish when you put together a solid plan and have the support of many.”

Faunce said one of the most rewarding things about the way things have gone with the center is that they are part of creating many enjoyable memories for families, friends and parties who utilize their space, both inside and outside.

With West Holmes Local School District preparing to move all of its students into a K-5 building in the future, Clark Community Center and its board and community have created a wonderful blueprint for how some of the smaller community schools might be able to set goals of modeling their school buildings into community centers that can continue to serve a critical role in the respective villages.

“I do feel like we’ve set a good example for some of these communities,” Faunce said. “We’ve had a lot of people reaching out to us to ask us how we went about doing what we’ve done. We also have been asked a lot about the cost of operating the facility. I think we’ve shown that when a community comes together, people can see what can be accomplished. I continue to encourage people to get a game plan together and go for it.”

Clark Community Center is located at 1390 state Route 83 in Clark, 10 minutes south of Millersburg. To purchase banquet tickets, call Faunce at 330-231-3592, Kevin Lint at 330-231-0162, Cheryl Seabright at 330-231-0819, Trae Schonauer at 330-473-7506, or Travis Sheldon at 330-231-6224.
