EAA Chapter 1077 hosting pancake breakfast for Memorial Day
EAA Chapter 1077 invites rotorcraft pilots and aviation enthusiasts to its annual pancake breakfast at Harry Clever Airport Memorial Day weekend. Scheduled for Sunday, May 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the event will offer a meal and chance to foster connections within the aviation community.
The pancake breakfast serves a dual purpose: providing food while supporting a cause. Attendees are encouraged to contribute to the chapter’s Student Pilot Grants to assist aspiring aviators. This initiative is vital in promoting the continuity of skilled pilots in an industry facing a predicted shortage.
Continuing its tradition of giving back, the chapter will offer free breakfast to all veterans, showing its commitment to honoring those who have served the nation. Guests can look forward to a menu of pancakes, fresh eggs, sausage, juice and coffee. The event attracts pilots, families and community members eager to share stories and have a meal together.
EAA Chapter 1077 plays a role in nurturing the local aviation scene, uniting individuals who fly, build, restore and appreciate aircraft. The chapter emphasizes safety, education and enjoyment, contributing to a supportive environment for both seasoned pilots and newcomers.
Monthly meetings, held the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m., take place at Harry Clever Airport. This facility, featuring a 5,200-foot runway, is ideal for local aviation activities. During these meetings participants exchange ideas, discuss safety practices and plan future events.
Founded in 1953, the Experimental Aircraft Association began as a grassroots movement among aviation enthusiasts committed to building their own aircraft. The organization has fostered a culture of collaboration and community participation that remains crucial to aviation today. Local chapters like EAA Chapter 1077 help uphold this legacy by offering support and encouragement to new pilots and builders.
Harry Clever Airport has its own history. Early on, it was established as a military installation during World War II and even launched the career of U.S. Senator and former astronaut John Glenn. Postwar, it transitioned into civilian use and has since become a hub for aviation enthusiasts in the region.
Encouraging youth to explore careers in aviation is essential, given the current pilot shortage anticipated to reach critical levels in future years. Events like the pancake breakfast are gateways for young people to experience and engage with the field of aviation, inspiring future generations of pilots.
Safety remains a primary focus of all EAA activities. The association is committed to promoting aviation safety through training and shared expertise. Chapter members engage in safety workshops and seminars, ensuring pilots are informed and prepared for their flying activities.
As the event day approaches, EAA Chapter 1077 encourages everyone to participate and connect with the local aviation community.
