Fredericksburg to wrap bicentennial celebration Nov. 2
The Village of Fredericksburg’s bicentennial celebration will have its grand finale on Nov. 2.
The yearlong festivities, which began in March 2024, have brought the community together, creating memories and honoring the village’s history.
A Summer to Remember
The celebration kicked off with a Memorial Day service, marking the last time it would be held at Fredericksburg Elementary School. June saw a school reunion, capturing a drone photo of students, teachers and staff. The Fourth of July Parade featured firetrucks, horses and floats.
Community events
August’s Street Dance and Vendor Show brought downtown alive with music and crafts. September’s Fire Department Homecoming drew crowds from near and far, with barbecue, homemade ice cream and entertainment. October’s Night of History showcased artifacts, newspapers and photographs, sharing stories across generations.
Grand finale
Nov. 2 from 4-8:30 p.m. at the ball fields will include barbecued pork dinner and fair food, music from The Group from Station 519 and performances by the Cedar Creek Cloggers, and John Schmid’s storytelling songs. Fireworks will be at 8 p.m.
Time capsule closing
On Dec. 31 at noon, the homemade wooden time capsule will be filled and sealed until 2074.
“We’re grateful for everyone’s participation,” village council committee members said. “We hope these events have created lasting memories and will be shared with future generations.”
