For fans of Southern rock, there is perhaps no band more idolized and respected than Lynyrd Skynyrd, a gritty vocal band from the 1970s known for bringing its blend of rock, blues and country to stage with such renowned smash hits as “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Free Bird” and “Gimme Three Steps.”

While the band was struck by tragedy in 1977 when a plane crash took the lives of lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines and other members of the entourage, the tragedy only cemented the group’s legendary status among millions of fans.

The band’s music lives on with plenty of airplay, but this year at the Holmes County Fair, fans can relax and enjoy a live tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd that is among the finest anywhere.

On Saturday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m., the Holmes County Fair will welcome a fair week highlight to the Stage on the Green in The Mister Breeze Band.

The Mister Breeze Band pays tribute to the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band, performing many of their iconic Southern rock songs.

Bringing the same musical talent, personalities and passion to every song and every show, Mister Breeze Band strives to take you back to a time when rock ’n’ roll was king and Southern rock was its prince.

From Van Zant’s authentic, from the heart lyrics and stage presence to their three-player attack on guitars, if fans close their eyes and soak in the music, they may think the band has magically come back to perform.

The tribute band is made up of musicians who replicate the sound and feel of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s live performances. The band performs the hits of Lynyrd Skynyrd and other classic rock music from the 1970s.

The tribute band aims to recreate the energy and atmosphere of a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert including authentic guitar riffs, pounding drums and Southern flair. Often, they will wear costumes similar to those worn by the original band members and use the same instruments including the famous Gibson Les Paul, found in Lynyrd Skynyrd’s songs and concerts.

While the original band is no longer performing due to tragic events, Mister Breeze Band keeps the music alive and honors the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Overall, Mister Breeze Band celebrates the spirit of Southern rock music and ensures the band’s music will continue to be enjoyed by future generations.
