In Exodus 25:10-26:21 (approximately 1491 B.C.), God gave Moses instructions to build a sanctuary, a place where he could be among his people. To give an idea of its size, a replica will come to Millersburg and arrive by semitruck. It will take 40 volunteers three days to set it up.

Consider how the Israelites made such a large tented structure without access to modern factories to produce large bolts of cloth or machines to fabricate decorative moldings. Imagine how it was moved without semitrailers during the 40s years of wilderness wandering. Think about the manpower required to assemble the sanctuary each time the camp was set up. These questions can be reflected upon when visiting the sanctuary in person.

The life-size replica of the Old Testament sanctuary is owned and operated by Messiah’s Mansion, a nonprofit, independent ministry that brings the sanctuary wherever it is hosted to pitch its tents. Part living history, part museum, this event provides an opportunity to see all the parts of the sanctuary, learn about the purpose of the sacrificial system, and understand the significance of the specific furniture and priest’s robes.

The sanctuary will be open for nine days of tours June 28 through July 6 from 1-6:30 p.m. at Harvest Ridge Event Center, 8880 state Route 39, Millersburg. Tours are free and last about one hour and 15 minutes. Walk-ups are welcome, but reservations are suggested for large groups to help with wait times. This event is ideal for all age groups.
