Lorraine Strouse, 17, a senior at West Holmes High School, is the daughter of Eric and Sharon Strouse.
She attended Millersburg Elementary, where her favorite teacher was Mrs. Nancy Miller, “because she was extremely nice and I always looked at her as the perfect teacher and wonderful role model.”
The teacher she feels has made the biggest impact on her is Mr. Rogers, “because he made me start to like science and he was a very respectful and trustworthy teacher.”
Some memorable scholastic experiences were being inducted in the National Honor Society, making the honor roll the past six years, and being named Food and Fabrics Student of the Year in middle school.
Lorraine’s extracurricular activities are 4-H, cross country, track, cheerleading, dance, ski/snowboarding, student council, and band.
Her future plans are to “go to college and major in middle school education - math and science.”
In her spare time, Lorraine likes to “hang out with friends and family.”
“Get involved in many things because it goes by faster than you think,” are her words of wisdom for younger students.
When asked what she would change about the American school system, Lorraine replied, “The standardized testing because it doesn’t always show a student’s true academic ability.”

“Lorraine’s communication skills make her a strong leader in the classroom and in athletics. She is able to challenge and lead her teammates to be their best, while at the same time being open and compassionate to their needs. In the classroom, she is able to convey her knowledge of the subject, while at the same time make it clear that she wants to learn even more. Her passion to be the best and her outgoing personality make her an outstanding example for her classmates and teammates. Lorraine is one of those special people who can push themselves and others to reach their full potential.”
