Ohioans exploring affordable health insurance options through the Health Insurance Marketplace for coverage in 2019 can receive free assistance by making an appointment with a local assister at Community Mental Healthcare/Community Family Health Center.

Jill Logan, outreach and enrollment coordinator, is a trained, certified application counselor and can provide information on various health-insurance options, walk consumers step by step through the enrollment process, and identify health insurance discounts that individuals or families can receive through www.HealthCare.gov. For an appointment, call 330-343-6631.

Marketplace plans must include key benefits like mental-health care, maternity care, prescription-drug coverage and hospitalization services. Many marketplace shoppers will qualify for a discount based on their income. Last year more than eight in 10 shoppers could get a plan for less than $100/month.

After open enrollment closes on Dec. 15, accessing health insurance in the marketplace is limited until the next open-enrollment period or to those who experience a qualifying life event like job loss or change in household composition.

Medicaid enrollment is available year round. Ohioans with annual incomes at or below 138 percent of the federal poverty level or $16,753 for an individual can apply for coverage through Medicaid at any time during the year.

The local assister at Community Mental Healthcare/Community Family Health Center also can help customers who may need to apply for Medicaid. For certain qualified individuals, emergency medical coverage may be authorized at the time of the appointment.

Community Mental Healthcare and Community Family Health Center are the only providers in the community to offer comprehensive, integrated and accessible health-care services to all local residents including behavioral health, substance-abuse services, family medical and dental.
