The hills — and now the stage — are alive with the sound of music. The Mohican Community Theatre, under the Loudonville Theatre and Arts Committee, nestled in the heart of Loudonville, will present its summer production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music.” Featuring a cast of local actors, there will be six performances June 20-29 at The Ohio Theatre.

“The Sound of Music” tells the true story of Maria, a spirited young governess who brings music and joy back to the Von Trapp family during a time of significant change. Audiences will hear songs like “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” and the iconic title number.

Directed by Rachel Kelly and assisted by Siera Wright with musical direction by Jenny Carroll and technical direction by Sally Hollenbach, this community production will bring together seasoned performers and first-time actors.

“This show is more than just a musical; it’s a story about hope, love and resilience,” Kelly said. “We’re thrilled to bring this production to life with the passion and dedication of our incredible cast and crew, many of whom live right here in our community, and those closely surrounding it.”

Performances will be held at The Ohio Theatre, with showtimes on June 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. and June 22 and 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.theohiotheatre.com/ and at the Ohio Theatre Box Office at 419-994-3750. Remaining seats can be purchased at the door an hour before each performance. Tickets are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors age 65 and over, $11 for students age 5-18, and free for children under 4 as space allows.
