The Uhrichsville Democrat Central Committee has selected Robert “Buck” Cottrell to fill the position of Uhrichsville president of council for the remainder of the term that will end on Dec. 31, 2021. The seat was vacated when Mark Haney assumed the duties of the mayor on Jan. 1.

Cottrell has been serving as a Uhrichsville council-at-large member for two years and was sworn into the president of council’s seat on Jan. 9 at the regularly scheduled council meeting.

“We were pleased to have four residents of Uhrichsville apply for the position: council-at-large member Bob Baker and former mayors Rick Dorland and Terry Culbertson,” said Martha Campbell, chair of the central committee. “Each of them brought experience to the table and have a proven record of serving the community.”

Cottrell is the administrator for the Uhrichsville Loyal Order of the Moose and is a school bus driver for the New Philadelphia City Schools.

Cottrell said, “I am very excited to take on this leadership position and hope to continue to do good things for the City of Uhrichsville.”

The Uhrichsville Central Committee will now be required to meet again before Jan. 25 to select the replacement for Cottrell’s council-at-large seat.
