The children’s department at the Dover Public Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2. This day also is marked as Read Across America Day, which was first celebrated in 1998 to encourage children to read.

The library will ask kids to find hidden Seuss book characters and name silhouettes from Dr. Seuss books. A special prize will be given to each child for participating.

Storytimes will continue live on Facebook on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. with Seuss stories. Starting Tuesdays in March, Jen Gardner will add a Crafty Kids time at 11 a.m. for kids to learn inexpensive crafts in less than 30 minutes. All March crafts will have a Seuss theme.

On Thursday, March 18 at 3 p.m., there will be an art class live on Facebook with Robyn Matako. Listen to a story followed by art instruction.

St. Patrick’s Day also is celebrated in March.

“Louie the Leprechaun always stops by the library at this time of year,” said Gardner, children’s department manager. “Follow the footprints to look for Louie’s gold and try to catch a glimpse of Louie.”

A Louie the Leprechaun Storytime will be on Facebook on Wednesday, March 17 at 10 a.m.

The library can’t forget Mr. Rogers and his birthday on March 20. “Mr. Rogers always asked people to be a good neighbor,” Gardner said. “We would love our youngest patrons to stop in and fill out our good neighbor paper to be displayed with a good deed that they have done.”
