On Tuesday, Jan. 26, the Dover Public Library will introduce Ben Bergeron - The Modern Private Investigator: Real Cases, Real Evidence, Real Justice.

Bergeron, a licensed private investigator and certified master criminal investigator, will present his industry's services from his experience as an investigator. He will clarify misconceptions about the industry, as well as introduce the range of investigative services he now provides as the owner of True Source Investigations LLC.

The program offers a realistic view into the workings of his primary services with criminal defense investigations, as well as private investigations he has conducted for the general public.

Popular TV shows have glamorized the activities of private investigators: Sherlock Holmes, Thomas Magnum, P.I., Columbo. The reality is licensed investigators like Bergeron are hired by attorneys and/or appointed by judges to investigate, collect and review existing or new evidence related to criminal and civil cases.

Bergeron primarily accepts cases of injustices and/or wrongful convictions based upon his own evidentiary findings or lack thereof.

In addition, Bergeron and his team specialize in surveillance investigations, asset investigations, missing-person investigations, background investigations, social-media investigations, physical threat analysis and human trafficking/abduction investigations.

As a veteran Bergeron served 10 years in the U.S. Navy including numerous combat tours in the Middle East and other areas of conflict. His awards include but are not limited to the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, as well as the Navy Commendation Medal.

Bergeron was educated at Kent State University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in criminology and justice studies.

Prior to opening his business, True Source Investigations LLC, Bergeron served as a chief criminal investigator for a large prosecuting attorney's office, where he supervised the criminal investigative and direct indictment units in addition to investigating many high-profile cases.

Bergeron has served over 10 years as a law-enforcement officer and is the recipient of the Law Enforcement Life Saver Medal, awarded by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

As the owner and operator of True Source Investigations, Bergeron has been able to utilize his skill set and experiences in the private sector by offering investigative services to attorneys, judges/courts, private individuals and corporations. Bergeron also is an investigative contractor for federal, state and local agencies.

This program will be held via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. Register at www.doverlibrary.org/register or email Sherrel at srieger@doverlibrary.org.
