Historical society to host banquet
The Tuscarawas County Historical Society will hold its annual winter banquet, including the election for the board of trustees, on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, 425 Prospect St., Dover. The banquet will include a catered buffet meal, a short business meeting and a presentation about mystery writer Agatha Christie. The cost for the event is $30.
Christie will be presented by Sami Krocker, local school teacher and member of the board of trustees. Christie, who died in 1976, is the world’s best-selling author with 83 books. She is famous for her detective characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Marples.
Krocker has worked in the local history field in various places in Tuscarawas County and has a background in theater.
Reservations can be made by sending the names of attendees and payment to the Tuscarawas County Historical Society, P.O. Box 462, New Philadelphia, OH 44663. For any questions regarding the banquet, call the Tusc Kent Archives at 330-308-7494. Archive hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Reservations are confirmed upon payment and are due Monday, Nov. 4.
