Loudonville Public Library has full slate in June
The Loudonville Public Library will kick off the summer with its 2025 Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World,” from June 9 through July 19. The program is open to all ages, from babies to seniors, and includes reading incentives, activities and prize opportunities. Registration will begin Monday, June 9.
To celebrate the start of the program, the library will host a summer reading kickoff on June 9 from 5-7 p.m., featuring local vendors Grunt Grub, Chuy’s and City Sips. The event also will include a bounce house, crafts, face painting, bubbles and free cotton candy. Attendees of all ages can register for the reading program at the event.
In addition to programming, the library will offer a summer food service Monday through Friday from June 9 to Aug. 8 from noon to 1 p.m. Children age 0-18 can receive a free grab-and-go lunch while supplies last. The program is provided by the Ohio Department of Education and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
Storytime for children age 2-5 will begin Tuesday, June 10 and continue June 17 and 24, with sessions held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program includes stories, songs, finger plays and crafts. Caregivers must be present, and sign-up is required with a 12-child limit per session.
Masterpiece Makers, a weekly program for fourth grade through 12th grade, will begin Thursday, June 12 at 1:30 p.m. and continue June 19 and 26. Participants will explore the work of a famous artist and create their own version of a notable piece. Sign-up is required with a limit of 12.
It’s My Art Now, also for fourth grade through 12th grade, will take place Friday, June 13 at 1:30 p.m. Kids and teens will reimagine classic artworks by adding creative twists and personal touches in this hands-on experience. Sign-up is required with a limit of 12.
Cookies & Canvas is scheduled for Monday, June 16 at 6 p.m. and invites families to follow a guided painting video to create a colorful ostrich masterpiece while eating cookies. No experience is necessary, but sign-up is required with a limit of 18 families.
On Tuesday, June 17 at 1 p.m., Master the Moment: Photography Class will be led by Mohican Media, offering tips on using DSLRs and smartphones to capture everyday magic through photography.
The adult book discussion group will meet Friday, June 20 at 11 a.m. in the Golden Center to discuss “Young Elizabeth: The Making of the Queen” by Kate Williams. Copies are available at the circulation desk.
Tie Dye in the Park will take place June 20 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. for first grade through 12th grade. Participants can sign up for a 30-minute slot to create their own tie-dye pillowcase. Each session is limited to six participants.
Families are invited to get messy at the Family Mestival on Monday, June 23 at 6 p.m. in Central Park. Activities include splatter painting, slime-making and other hands-on crafts, with attendees encouraged to dress for the mess.
On Tuesday, June 24 at 6 p.m., participants can create lasting floral art during Framed Florals, where they’ll learn how to make pressed floral frames. Sign-up is required, and space is limited.
The month will wrap up with Bedazzled Art on Friday, June 27 at 1:30 p.m., where kids and teens in fourth grade through 12th grade will decorate the covers of books with gems. Sign-up is required with a 12-participant limit.
