The partial eclipse, where the moon touches the edge of the sun, will begin at 1:58 p.m., followed by the maximum eclipse at 3:15 p.m. where the sun is most hidden, and ending at 4:29 p.m. when the edge of the moon leaves the edge of the sun.

                        

On April 8 a total eclipse of the sun will occur in the United States. This will be the first total solar eclipse visible in the United States since 2017. Everyone across the country will be able to witness what is being called the Eclipse Across America. It is reported New Philadelphia will experience 99% coverage.

To take advantage of this historic event, join others at the Trumpet in the Land Amphitheatre in New Philadelphia. The amphitheater, home to Ohio’s first outdoor drama and official state play, has 24 acres of open space and unobstructed views.

Gates will open at 1 p.m. The cost is $6 per person and includes solar glasses, a moon pie and a souvenir bottle of water. A concession stand will be available, and individuals are asked to bring their own blankets and/or lawn chairs. For reservations call 330-364-5111.
