United Way Day of Caring is a team-building event
The United Way of Tuscarawas County is gearing up for its annual Day of Caring Friday, April 11 from 8 a.m. to noon. The event offers volunteers from area companies the opportunity to spend the morning providing spring cleanup services for historical attractions and nonprofit organizations throughout Tuscarawas County.
This year’s Day of Caring will include projects at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, Schoenbrunn Village, Blessings in a Backpack, Trumpet in the Land, The Salvation Army, the Reeves Museum and more.
Tasks will vary depending on the site but may include mulching, planting flowers, raking, cleaning, sweeping, prepping garden beds, repairs, painting, packing weekend food bags and other duties as assigned.
The Day of Caring serves as a team-building activity for management teams and employees, so any local company that would like to put together a team is encouraged to participate. Local nonprofit organizations are similarly encouraged to submit spring cleanup projects for the Day of Caring.
Although the deadline has passed, the United Way is still accepting applications for project sites and interested volunteer groups to participate in this year’s event. Email Hannah Hartman at manager@tuscunitedway.org or call the United Way of Tuscarawas County at 330-343-7772 to be considered for inclusion in the 2025 Day of Caring.
The United Way of Tuscarawas County is grateful for the event sponsorship provided by First National Bank of Dennison, whose support of this annual event allows each participant to receive a free T-shirt to wear during the Day of Caring.
“I’m always impressed by Tuscarawas County’s willingness to give back, and the Day of Caring is a great way for businesses to not only give back, but also build camaraderie among their staff with this fun day of volunteerism,” said Hartman, community engagement and events manager for the United Way of Tuscarawas County.
Reeves Museum Director Shelagh Pruni said, “We are so grateful to the United Way for organizing the Day of Caring every year. Every spring they send us a great group of volunteers who do an awesome job of helping us get our grounds ready for the year. I’m not sure how we ever did it without them.”
