Dover Public Library will honor young ones who have completed the library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program.

A reception honoring every child who has finished the program so far will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in the library’s community room. Light refreshments will be served, and parents who attend will receive tips and handouts on dialogic reading.

“Research has shown the best thing you can do to raise a good reader is expose your child to books,” youth services manager Claire Kandle said. “These parents can be proud that they are supporting their children on a road that studies agree leads to greater success in school and throughout life.”

Kandle invites parents who may not be aware of the national 1000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative to attend the reception to learn more.

Dover Public Library has been a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program Center since 2017.

Registration for this program is available online at www.doverlibrary.org/register. Call 330-343-6123 for more information.

The Dover Public Library is located at 525 N. Walnut St., directly across the street from Dover High School.
