OBITUARY

                        
John Taylor John F. Taylor, 75, of Lakeville, died Jan. 8, 2010, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville. John was born Nov. 25, 1934, in Greer, to the late Mason and Rachael Taylor. He was a self-employed mechanic and truck driver, and for many years owned and operated the Cozy Corners Garage and Snack Bar near Lakeville. During the 1960s and ‘70s, he was an avid racer in both stock cars and dragsters. John was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 257, Loudonville. He served through all of the offices in District 5 of the Ohio American Legion, served as state sergeant-at-arms, and for 20 years served as the state advisor for Sons of the American Legion. He was also a member of VFW Post 8586, 40et8 Voiture No. 800, AMVETS, and Hanover Lodge No. 115 F&AM. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Taylor, whom he married in 1961; brothers, Gaylord S. (Joann) Taylor of Marblehead and Charles (Jane) Taylor of Greenwich; sister, Mary Ellen Algire of Perrysville; and sister-in-law, Janice E. Taylor of Loudonville. He was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel, Mason, Ralph, and Alfred Taylor; and sister, Elnora Snyder. Services were held Jan. 12, 2010, at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Rev. Scott Henderson officiating. Burial with military services by the American Legion and VFW was in Loudonville Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.Byerly-Lindsey.com.
