The Massillon Museum will host Boxed Out: An Autobiographical Comic Workshop, a three-session series on Sundays, July 19 and 26 and Aug. 2 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the new classrooms. The program will transition to a virtual experience if necessary.

The program is recommended for anyone age 15 and older. The cost is $38 ($35 per MassMu member) and includes all supplies. Advance registration is required by calling Stephanie Toole, education and outreach manager, at 330-833-4061 ext. 104 or emailing her at sltoole@massillonmuseum.org.

Everyone has a story worth telling. Artist and educator Alex Strader will guide students as they work together to develop their own unique ways of creating autobiographical comics. Exploring traditional Sunday comic strips and abstract sequential imagery, students will leave with an understanding of how to tell their visual stories for print, the web or personal reflection.

The Massillon Museum’s new classroom is part of the expansion project. It is accessed through the museum’s main entrance.

The museum staff has thoroughly planned and prepared for safe visits to the building. Visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks and distance themselves from others. Precautions and guidelines are posted on the museum’s website for guests to review before they visit. Signage and sanitizing stations are located throughout the building.

The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way E. in downtown Massillon. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city lots.

For more information call the museum at 330-833-4061 or visit www.massillonmuseum.org.
