A four-goal spree in less than three minutes helped the Hawks build a 4-0 lead at intermission that led to a 6-0 triumph over the Quakers Monday, Sept. 28, in New Philadelphia.
“We played well tonight,” said Hiland coach Scott Bodiker. “The end of the first half was nice as we had pressured all half and amazingly, scored four times in less than three minutes.”
Noah Boyd got the Hawks on the board in the 37th minute of the first half with an assist from Jon Schmucker.
Less than a minute later, Danny Beachy scored once, and then again, both unassisted, to put the Hawks up 3-0.
Luke Burch capped the flurry with an unassisted goal in the 39th minute to give Hiland a 4-0 lead at the half.
Cody Miller broke free for a goal in the 62nd minute to make it 5-0 and Braden Conn capped off the scoring with a goal in the 76th minute with an assist from Josh Yoder.
Hiland peppered 21 shots on goal to six for the Quakers. Dylan Kaufman made two saves in goal for the Hawks.
