Knights grounded by Clear Fork
After flying high with an opening-round win over Ashland in the Ohio Cardinal Conference tournament, the Knights were brought back down to earth on Saturday by Clear Fork 6-0.Clear Fork jumped all over the Knights in the first half, taking advantage of every mistake to build a 5-0 lead at intermission.
The Colts found the back of the net once in the second half to walk away with a 6-0 victory.
"We were unable to get anything started today," West Holmes coach Nic Fioritto said. "Clear Fork is a great team, but we just came out flat. Our guys were not ready to play at all and it showed."
West Holmes was unable to get anything going offensively, managing to put only one shot on goal against the Colts. On the season, the Knights are 5-8-2 overall.
The Knights went to Wooster on Tuesday, Oct. 13, for a shot at third place in the OCC tourney.
The Knights were the fourth seed in the River View Sectional. West Holmes opens tournament action on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 5 p.m., against New Philadelphia.
