Div. II regional team duals coming to West Holmes High
The Dungeon at West Holmes High School will be one of the host sites for the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association Div. II Regional Team Duals Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The Knights will host the five-team upper portion of the Steubenville Regional, with the winner advancing to the OHSWCA D-II State Team Duals to be held a week later at New Lexington High School.
Top-seeded Minerva had the first option as the host site but declined. That gave No. 4 West Holmes, the next highest-seeded team in the upper portion of the bracket, a chance to host, which the Knights accepted.
No. 8 New Lexington and No. 9 River Valley will tangle in the first dual, with the winner advancing to the semifinals to face Minerva. The Knights will battle No. 5 Beaver Local in the other semifinal.
The semifinal winners will then meet for the right to advance to state. The semifinal losers will face each other for third place.
The lower half of the bracket, which features six teams, is being contested at Indian Valley High School. First-round matchups include No. 11 Philo facing No. 6 Steubenville and No. 10 Athens battling No. 7 Miami Trace.
No. 3 Carrollton awaits the Philo-Steubenville winner while No. 2 Indian Valley will face the Athens-Miami Trace victor in the semifinals. The semifinal winners will then face each other with a state berth on the line.
