Wayne Center for the Arts will host the performance of classical guitarist Jason Vieaux in the WCA auditorium on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.

Grammy-winner Vieaux, “among the elite of today’s classical guitarists,” according to Gramophone, is described by NPR as “perhaps the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation.”

This solo recital will include work by J.S. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Leo Brower and a few of the artist’s own compositions. Limited seating will afford attendees an up-close experience. A reception will follow the performance with a chance to meet the artist.

Vieaux’s multiple appearances for San Francisco Performances, Caramoor Festival, Ravinia Festival, PCMS, 92nd Street Y, Domaine-Forget and others have helped to cement his reputation.

Other overseas performance venues include Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Seoul Arts Center, Shanghai Concert Hall, Sala Sao Paolo and Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.

Vieaux has performed as soloist with over 100 orchestras including Cleveland, Toronto, Houston, Nashville and Orchestra of St. Luke’s, working with conductors such as Giancarlo Guererro, Jahja Ling, Gerard Schwarz and Michael Stern.

As a teacher Vieaux co-founded the guitar department at the Curtis Institute of Music and has taught at the Cleveland Institute of Music for 25 years.

Tickets and information for this concert and the full Wayne Center Presents series can be purchased at www.WayneArtsCenter.org. Individual tickets are $20 for general admission. Subscriptions for the five-concert series are $80. Ticket availability is limited.

Support for Wayne Center Presents is provided by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ohio Arts Council and individual contributions.
