Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MRV Siding Supply stores are currently closed to walk-in business, but homeowners can visit by appointment. MRV is taking, and will deliver, contractors’ orders.
MRV Siding Supply started 30 years ago as an off-shoot of an installation company that started as three men and a truck. Today Millersburg-based MRV and its affiliated companies — Holmes Siding Contractors and Holmes Manufacturing — produce, sell and install a wide assortment of siding and other high-quality home-improvement products.
MRV — an acronym for “More Real Value” — operates three retail locations while Holmes Manufacturing in Killbuck makes its customized aluminum soffits, fascia covers, channels, gutters, downspouts and related products.
“MRV Siding Supply started due to large volume purchasing made possible by Holmes Siding Contractors (HSC) installs,” explained Todd Kandel, president of Holmes Manufacturing. “We had a lot of siding that we were stocking and receiving truckload quantities weekly and we thought it would be a good idea to sell the material we weren’t using to other contractors.”
Kandel was an HSC and MRV customer before he joined the business 20 years ago. “I was a builder who relied on HSC and MRV for its high-quality products and on-time deliveries,” he said. “They shared my values of integrity, treating people right and not making promises you can’t keep.”
After relocating out of the area for a few years, Kandel returned home and joined MRV. He later became president of the manufacturing operation.
“We make all of the aluminum products we sell,” he said. “Our focus is on making, selling and installing the highest quality products, not the cheapest products. Our products are made to last, with a minimum of warranty and call-back issues. We put the same products on your house that I would put on my house, and I am totally confident that I won’t have to worry about these products failing. Our products are made to add value to your home.”
That’s why MRV partners with ProVia of Sugarcreek to provide vinyl siding, doors, replacement windows and decorative stone products.
“We sell a lot of ProVia’s products, and we manufacture a lot of aluminum products for them through Holmes Manufacturing,” Kandel said. “So we’re working both ways together, truly partnering.”
Serving the community, Kandel said, is a privilege that creates partnership. That’s why MRV is happy to supply contractors. After all, that’s how MRV got started in 1990.
“The siding installation business was growing fast in the 1980s,” he said. “HSC was running six to eight crews doing a house per day. We were buying such a large volume and had so much in the warehouse that the question came up whether to start selling to other siding installers. Today we still gladly help any contractor who walks into any of our locations. Our goal is to be very transparent and do business with integrity.”
Along with its local Millersburg location, MRV also operates stores in Newark, Ohio and Pittsburgh.
“When you visit our retail/wholesale stores, you’ll enjoy working with our very knowledgeable sales staff,” Kandel said. “They’ll be happy to help you select the ideal replacement windows, doors or whatever product you’re looking for. Our showrooms are packed full of different colors and trim options. Our new metal roofing options and the different siding trim options have been very popular.”

Kandel acknowledges that we’re living in challenging times but said MRV and its affiliated companies will get through them by employing the same standards that have sustained the business for 30 years.
“The company was dedicated to God, and he has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams,” Kandel said. “We will continue to rely on his direction. We’ve always been responsible and responsive to our customers, and that’s the way it’s going to continue.”
Along with Kandel, the other partners in the business are Ed Yoder and his two sons, Doran and Jeremy.
