Spectacular Ohio white pine has been one of the most sought-after building materials since the beginning of the American colonies. And Gregory Log & Lumber, in Millersburg, may be the most sought-after place to get it, said owner Leroy Yoder.

“We have a customer base in Ohio and surrounding states that depend on us for their white pine needs,” Yoder said. “The reason we deal exclusively in locally harvested white pine is because it is high quality, beautiful in appearance and is very forgivable. It doesn’t crack like your hardwoods or yellow pine.”

Yoder invites the public to come by Gregory Log & Lumber’s showroom and production facility for a customer appreciation sale on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7-8 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free coffee and pastries from Miller’s Bakery will be served.

“We will offer tours of our facility so you can see for yourself how our top-quality white pine products are crafted,” Yoder said. “We also will offer a five percent cash and carry discount for purchases on those days.”

Gregory Log & Lumber specializes in manufacturing and supplying siding, beams and other top-quality Ohio white pine products to professionals and do-it-yourselfers.

“Along with siding and customized sliding doors, we also carry the sliding door hardware that really brings out the attractive knotty pine look that is so popular right now,” Yoder said. “We custom design and manufacture interior sliding doors in any size and trim design anybody wants.”

Siding at Gregory Log & Lumber is available in six- and eight-inch widths.

“We custom mold them on-site for quality control,” Yoder said. “We offer ship lap and tongue-and-groove in the log siding. That’s kind of unique. Most companies don’t offer both. We also have a wire brushed 1x10 pine ship lap board that is very popular in this area. It creates an antique, rustic look by having a wire brush on it. It’s a very unique product that we specialize in. If you see it in this area, it probably came from Gregory.”

Gregory Log & Lumber also offers a custom circular cut skip plane that is unique in the white pine market, Yoder said.

Yoder purchased Gregory Log & Lumber in 2006 when the business had two employees. The company now employs 18 workers.

“Quality has been the key to our success,” Yoder said. “I also say quality is number one, service is number two and a good price is number three,” he said.
