Fall décor, Halloween decorations and Zoar-themed Christmas cards are new additions to the Zoar Store at 198 Main St. in Zoar.

“We take special effort to offer Ohio-made items and unique gifts that are nostalgic and reflect our 19th-century surroundings,” said Tammi Shrum, site director. “It’s fun to help people shop for that perfect item and know that their purchase is going to help preserve local history.”

All proceeds help fund educational programming, site operations and historically accurate restorations of Historic Zoar Village.

Recently, repairs were made to the Tin Shop and Kitchen/Magazine. Next on the list is the Town Hall, which was built in 1887 and houses the Ohio & Erie Canal Museum and a museum of Zoarite artifacts. It last received restorations in 2002 for Ohio’s bicentennial celebration.

The Zoar Store’s seasonal fall offerings include Shooner Pottery, made by Ohio residents Greg and Mary Shooner, who are considered the premier redware potters in the country; Zoar-themed Christmas cards and ornaments featuring a red cardinal; books, clothing, crafting kits and housewares; and nostalgic candy, toys and locally made food items.

The Zoar Store is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Visit www.facebook.com/thezoarstore.
