The BBB Charitable & Educational Fund Inc. announced its scholarship essay contest for area high school seniors is now open to receive submissions.

The BBB Life Lessons Essay Contest is a theme-based essay contest that challenges students to reflect on living a life of integrity and ethics. The essays are submitted online and reviewed by a panel of judges. The top-four essays will be awarded scholarships ranging from $500-$2,500.

The contest is open to area high school seniors attending schools in Stark, Carroll and Tuscarawas counties. There is no GPA requirement to apply, and scholarship funds are used toward attending any career, technical, college, university or trade school after high school graduation.

The theme for the 2020 essay contest is Ethics. The BBB’s mission is building an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers trust each other. When submitting essays, students should state what code of ethics they live their life by. What are the values and principles they hold themselves to, regardless of the situation?

“We are excited to provide this scholarship to students in our community again this year,” said Frank Cilona, BBB president and CEO. “The scholarship is available to any student seeking to further education after high school including those students attending nontraditional avenues such as trade or technical schools. The BBB’s perspective is no matter what professional career a student chooses, they should strive to live a life centering on ethics and integrity."

Essay submissions will be accepted through March 27. Students, teachers and parents can read more about eligibility, instructions to apply and submitting entries on the website at www.bit.ly/BBBLifeLessons.
