Science camp is in 37th year
New Philadelphia Summer Science Camp will return for its 37th year July 14-18 at Camp Tuscazoar, 6066 Boy Scout Road NE, Dover. The theme for 2025 is “Competition Science.”
The camp is open to all area students in association with summer school programming. Students entering second grade through fourth grade will attend from 8:30-11 a.m. Students entering fifth grade through eighth grade will attend from noon to 2:30 p.m. Activities will vary between the two grade-level groups.
Campers will develop inquiry and problem-solving skills through a variety of challenges and hands-on experiences in biology, chemistry, physics and earth science. Daily mini-competitions and projects will encourage scientific thinking in an outdoor setting. Some project details will be shared in advance while others will be introduced during camp.
The camp will be taught by New Philadelphia High School science teachers Scott Houmard, Jody Brady and Kip Brady, who have a combined 86 years of teaching experience in both physical and biological sciences. Other teachers and guest presenters may participate on a day-to-day basis.
Parents and students are encouraged to join the Remind group using @npscicamp to receive updates.
