Camp Luz holding disc golf tourney
Camp Luz will hold its annual Fall Fest on Oct. 19.
As the temperatures turn brisk and leaves begin to turn, fall is in the air at Camp Luz, where this summer nearly 400 kids representing over 80 churches swam in the pool, ate outside and learned how to be equipped in their faith journey.
To support the 70-year-old ministry, a day full of disc golf will be held Sept. 21 at Camp Luz, 152 Kidron Road, Orrville.
The Buzz at Luz Disc Golf Tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. with three skill-based divisions — Advanced (MA1), Intermediate (MA2) and Beginner (MA3) — with an entry fee of $30. The night before will be a new event, an 18-hole glow round with a cost of $10. Payouts for both the glow round and main tournament will be in the form of merchandise provided by event sponsors, and all proceeds support the ministry of Camp Luz.
On Oct. 19, Camp Luz will host its annual Fall Fest starting at 4 p.m., with activities including a hayride, cider making, fall crafts and camp games. Silent auction items will be on display and can be bid on. Dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m., and a program and live auction will follow.
“Carrying out the mission of Camp Luz relies on the support of churches, businesses and individuals,” said Lacey Holt, program director at Camp Luz. “We love the opportunity to serve our local community through sharing the gospel and building up young people in their faith.
