In the Nov. 5 election in Holmes candidates, Republican candidates and nearly every levy were all victorious, in results from the Holmes County Board of Elections.

Races

Every Republican on the ballot cruised in Holmes County, led by Donald Trump at the top of the ticket, who garnered 83% of the vote. In the race for the U.S. Senate, Bernie Moreno (79.4%) beat incumbent Sherrod Brown as Moreno took that seat.

Both races for U.S. Representative were won by Republicans district-wide and in the county, as Max Miller won 82% of the vote in the 7th District and Troy Balderson won in the 12th District, getting 86% of the local vote.

In the race for the 98th District state representative, Mark Hiner won 85% of the Holmes County vote.

In county races, Republicans Joe Miller and Eric Strouse (commissioner), Tim Zimmerly (sheriff), Matt Muzic (prosecuting attorney), Anita Hall (recorder), Leslee Mast (treasurer), Ronda Steimel (Clerk of Courts) and Chris Young (engineer) all ran unopposed.

Levies

The lone levy to lose was the tax for the benefit of Holmes County Council on Aging, Inc. for the purpose of providing or maintaining senior citizens services or facilities, which failed 57-43%.

Levies that passed and the margin of victory included:

—Killbuck electric aggregation, 53-47

—Six Killbuck liquor issues, including 4 allowing Sunday sales, all passed with at least 70% of the vote

—Paint Twp. fire replacement, 63-37
