Holmes Library October events
The Holmes County District Public Library has the following events and programs scheduled for October. Call the library at 330-674-5972 for more information or to register for any of these events:
October craft kit for kids
Pick up a themed kit that includes supplies to paint a fall-inspired metallic line art canvas at the Central Library or East Branch Library.
Story times
For kids age 2-5 with an adult, there will be story times at the East Branch Library on Wednesdays, Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 10:30 a.m. and at the Central Library on Fridays, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 10:30 a.m.
Little Learners Playgroup
Kids up to age 5, with an adult, will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills at the Central Library on Fridays, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 11 a.m. to noon. Snacks are provided.
STEAMKids Club
School-age kids will learn how to code a Sphero Robot at the Central Library on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required.
Family Solar Eclipse Program
School-age kids and their families will learn facts about the annular eclipse while viewing this event in the library’s backyard at the Central Library on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11:15 a.m. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Registration is required.
Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?
Join Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension services educator, to learn how to fairly decide what to do with cherished family items and share family stories at the Central Library on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.
Leaping Lizard
Adventures
Families will see and learn about snakes, lizards, toads and centipedes at the Central Library on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required.
Family Lego Night
Families are invited for some Lego building at the Central Library on Monday, Oct. 23 from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Legos and ideas will be provided.
Friends of the Library Fall Booksale
Stop in at the Central Library’s meeting room during regular business hours on Friday, Oct. 27 or Saturday, Oct. 28 to shop a selection of gently used books and materials. If you are a member of the Friends or would like to become one, there will be a members-only preview on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 5-7 p.m. Prices will be posted at the sale.
Book discussion for adults
The event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31 discussing “West with Giraffes” by Lynda Rutledge at the Central Library at 1 p.m. and “Dinosaurs” by Lydia Millet at Jitters Coffee House in Millersburg at 6 p.m. Books are available to borrow at the Central Library.
