The West Holmes varsity baseball team cruised to an 8-0 win over Madison in an Ohio Cardinal Conference clash on April 9.

Hunter Aurand led the offense with two hits. Carson Tanner picked up the win on the mound, as he struck out four and didn’t allow a hit over four scoreless innings. Sam Sprang struck out four over two innings of relief while Manny Camacho (two strikeouts) tossed the final inning.

Indian Valley picked up a 10-3 nonleague win over West Holmes on April 6.

Tanner paced the offense with two hits.

Wooster rolled to an 11-1 six-inning win over West Holmes in OCC play on April 5.

Five Knights had a hit to lead the offense.

West Holmes rallied but couldn’t overcome an early deficit in a 9-8 loss to Wooster on April 3.

Tanner kept the Knights in the game by striking out 16 batters over 6 2/3 innings of relief. He also had two hits at the plate.

Aurand and Morgan Smith both chipped in two hits.

Varsity softball

West Holmes improved to 6-0 with a 6-5 win over Madison in OCC action on April 9.

Emrie Lemon led the Lady Knights with two hits and an RBI. Payton Carathers had a double and scored the game-winning run on a hit by Kali Woods. Briar Cline and Kenzie Woods (stolen base) both scored two runs.

Addison Yoder picked up the complete-game win in the circle, striking out eight.

West Holmes cruised to a 17-4 five-inning win over Waynedale in a nonleague clash on April 6.

Yoder earned the complete-game victory in the circle, as she allowed no earned runs while striking out five.

Lemon (four RBIs), Zalina Proper (double, three RBIs), Keegan Uhl (two RBIs), Kenzie Woods (double, RBI) and Yoder (two RBIs) all had two hits to pace the offense.

West Holmes picked up an 11-0 five-inning win over Maysville in nonconference action on April 5.

Kenzie Woods slashed two home runs and knocked in four runs to lead the offense. Lemon (three RBIs), Uhl and Proper (two runs) all chipped in two hits. Cline earned the complete-game victory in the circle, tossing a four-hitter with three strikeouts.

West Holmes rolled to a 23-6 five-inning win over Wooster in OCC action on April 3.

Kenzie Woods (four RBIs) and Proper (three) both went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lady Knights. Lemon went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Yoder picked up the win in the circle, allowing six runs (two earned) while striking out six.

Girls track and field

West Holmes finished fourth out of 12 teams at the Knights Invitational on April 6.

Zaylie Shultz won the discus with a throw of 111-feet-9 and finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 32-3 ½ to lead the Lady Knights.

Casey Ogi finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 9 feet; the 4x8 team of Zora Starner, Noelle Smith, Lexy Starner and Katherine Kaster finished second in 10:23.74; and Arora Chaney finished third in the 200 in 28.23.

Boys track and field

West Holmes finished fifth at the 10-team Knights Invitational on April 6.

The Knights were led by Tristen Middaugh, Kyle Maltarich and Grant Miller. Middaugh won the pole vault with a vault of 12-6, Miller won the discus with a throw of 133-11 and Maltarich won the high jump with a jump of 6-4.

Jack Marmet finished second in the shot put with a toss of 46-5 ½ while Jacob Miller finished second in the 3,200 with a time of 10:24.30.

JV baseball

West Holmes rolled to a 21-2 five-inning win over Madison in OCC action on April 9.

Colston Tenney and Keston McKinney both had four hits to lead the Knights offense. McKinney also earned the win on the mound, as he allowed two unearned runs while striking out six over four innings.

West Holmes picked up a 7-5 nonconference win over Indian Valley on April 6.

Nate Sprang earned the mound win, striking out seven and allowing four unearned runs over 4 2/3 innings. Tenney picked up the save, as he tossed the final 2 1/3 innings and fanned three batters.

Remy Beachy, Shane Lorentz and Sprang (double, three RBIs) all had two hits to lead the offense. Tenney drove in two runs.

JV softball

West Holmes knocked off Waynedale 7-6 in nonleague play on April 6.

Emma Miller paced the Lady Knights with three hits and an RBI. Landrie Croskey (double) and Kyle Miller (two RBIs) both chipped in two hits. Briar Cline picked up the win, as she allowed no earned runs while striking out 11.
