United Way of Tuscarawas County announced the appointment of Sarah Spies as the new president and CEO, effective June 3.

Most recently serving as the programming and communications coordinator for the East Central Ohio Educational Service Center, Spies has demonstrated a commitment to advancing educational initiatives in the community.

Throughout her career she has been dedicated to service and has promoted arts and culture, serving a term as president on the board of the Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, secretary of the Tuscarawas Arts Partnership and trustee of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic.

She has fostered community collaborations and initiatives including the annual Family Reading Festival and Leaders of Tomorrow Summit.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sarah as the new president and CEO of United Way of Tuscarawas County,” said Chris Lane, UWTC board chair. “Her exceptional leadership qualities combined with her deep commitment to our community make her the ideal choice to lead our organization forward. We are confident that under Sarah’s guidance, the United Way of Tuscarawas County will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout Tuscarawas County.”

In addition to the appointment of Spies, the board announced the promotion of Susan Reidenbach to the position of director of community engagement.

“Susan’s contribution to the success of numerous community engagement initiatives and United Way events since joining the team in 2016 cannot be overstated. She has been instrumental in initiatives such as the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the VITA tax program, which have had a significant impact on the communities we serve,” Lane said.

In her new role, Reidenbach will play a part in fostering community partnerships, enhancing volunteer engagement and leading outreach efforts to further advance the United Way’s mission.
