It’s nearly time to begin the 2020-21 school year at Buckeye Career Center. Although the year may look and feel different than normal, Buckeye Career Center is committed to providing the best career-technical education possible for its students. In order to do so, changes have been made to school days to reduce the population of students in the building each day.

The school calendar will begin with an orientation week Monday, Aug. 24 to Friday, Aug. 28. Students are being organized by school district with approximately 200 students attending each day to complete orientation and first-day activities. Students should only attend that week on the day their partner school is scheduled.

The schedule is as follows: Aug. 24, New Philadelphia and Conotton Valley; Aug. 25, Dover, Garaway and Hiland; Aug. 26, Claymont, Strasburg, TCC and open-enrolled; Aug. 27, Indian Valley and Newcomerstown; and Aug. 28, Carrollton, Tusky Valley, all home-school and all virtual students.

Students will attend their orientation day from 7:50 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. During orientation students will have the opportunity to pay all fees, join Drug Free Clubs of America and get a parking pass. In addition, Solid Rock Photos will be on hand to take student ID and school photos for the year.

The school year will continue Aug. 31 with an amended schedule. Students will attend in-person two or three days each week for lab and will complete their academics online. Seniors should plan to attend in-person Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday while completing their academics online. Juniors should complete their academics online Monday and Tuesday and prepare to attend in-person every other Wednesday and every Thursday and Friday.

Student fees and lunch-account payments for the 2020-21 school year may be made with cash, check or credit card during orientation days. Payments also can be made online using www.PayForIt.net, which is BCC’s online partner for paying fees and adding money to students’ lunch accounts. Fee amounts will not appear on PayForIt until mid-August. Breakfast and lunch prices remain the same this year at $2.25 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch. Fees also can be paid over the phone by calling 330-339-2288 ext. 1212.

Incoming high school juniors can still apply to attend Buckeye Career Center for the 2020-21 school year by visiting the district’s website at www.BuckeyeCareerCenter.org. BCC features over 30 career-technical high school programs. For more information or questions, call 330-339-2288.
